In collaboration with several notable partners, our team constructed 21,000 sq. ft. of retaining wall for the Mulligan Park Retirement Residences, a complete retirement community in Tallahassee that provides personal care, assisted living and memory care opportunities for its residents.
Throughout the job, we encountered challenges that we were able to use our resources, talents and expertise to overcome and to ultimately deliver an exceptional product on time and within budget. Due to the high clay content in Tallahassee, we were unable to use the soil in that area, so we imported all of our reinforced soil from the Silver Lake Quarry. In addition, many of our walls were tall — reaching the city’s allowable height, 20 ft. for segmental walls. Since this facility is located in the center of the property with walls going all around it, we had to make sure our geogrid reinforcement went right up to the limit of the property lines.
We completed work just before Hurricane Hermine hit, and we are happy to report that while there was damage to much of the landscaping, ACP’s walls continued to stand tall.
